Bid this hand

You deal and hold: 6, Q 10 9 7 2, Q J 10 7 5 2, 7 You pass. LHO passes. Partner bids 1NT. You bid 2D (transfer) and partner dutifully bid 2H. Then what? You don’t have much in the way of HCP, but you do have a powerful playing hand. It is easy to count up twelve or so points for either hearts or diamonds. I suggest you bid four diamonds. I think four diamonds would show precisely this hand: five hearts and six diamonds, and it asks partner to bid 4H if he hold three, five diamonds, or pass. (I don’t think four diamonds could be a splinter bid.) My partner passed 2H. I held A 10 x x, K 8, A K x x, K x x and made four hearts with a little skill and a lot of luck. Five diamonds is cold. If you hold five hearts and six clubs I think it should be bid the same way. You are a passed hand so 4C cannot be Gerber. If you are not a passed hand the bidding sequence could go: 1NT/2D/2H/3D/3NT/4D. Or with clubs: 1NT/2D/2H/3C/3NT/4C. Again 4C is not Gerber; it is showing six clubs. Comments?
