Card sense
Card sense
I dealt and held: Q J 9 8 6 4, A Q 7, A 8 6, 4. I opened 1S.
Partner bid 2C. Then what?
Apparently the field sensed a misfit, bid 2S with this hand, and played in four spades.
But this hand is much better than that. It is easy count up 16+ playing points with this hand. I bid 3S. My thinking:
If partner has as much as a singleton ten of spades (or two small) and a reasonable 2C bid you must be in game.
Or if partner has spade support and is probing around a bit I should help.
Partner bid Blackwood, I showed my two aces, and she bid 6S.
She came down with: A K 10 5, 9 5 4, K 9, A K 8 7.
Making six for a top after four rounds.
[When she found that we had all the aces, I think she should have checked about kings and if I had one she should bid 7S. With her spade holding I have to have at least six spades for my bid. She could then count: six spade tricks, two heart tricks, two diamond tricks and a diamond ruff, and two club tricks for thirteen. (If I did not have a third diamond to ruff, I might have an odd queen.)]
